National Youth Empowerment
Youth empowerment as members of our societies is crucial for the societal eco-socioeconomic transition towards sustainable development. Youth as a key segment of the population have traditionally faced challenges in fulfilling their potentially important roles. With increasing numbers and as dynamic stakeholders in society, young people are key agents of positive change.
In order to accentuate their positive attributes and create an enabling environment for young people to reach their full potential, youth need to be recognized from an asset-based perspective.
Youth engagement through youth empowerment increases youth’s developmental assets and understanding of complex development issues. It is important to engage youth in working towards Sustainable Development at all levels. The acknowledgment of young people as active partners, leaders and agents of change and the prioritization of their developmental processes are pivotal in building a prosperous and sustainable future, positioning youths as crucial stakeholders in the realizations of Sustainable Development.
